Every few years authorities propel the long search for former Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa back into the headlines, citing a new place they think the long ago disappeared body might be.
The former Teamster boss was allegedly kidnapped on July 30, 1975, from a parking lot of a restaurant in Bloomfield Township where he was alleged to have been meeting with two mob leaders, Anthony Provenzano and Anthony Giacalone.
Since his disappearance, claims of Hoffa’s possible whereabouts have taken FBI investigators and amateur sleuths on wild goose chases for nearly 40 years with, no trace of him being turned up. Theories over the years have suggested that Hoffa’s body was incinerated in a trash compactor in Michigan and buried in an unknown location in Florida, theories that have never panned out.
Most recently authorities were in Michigan digging up a field. Next year it might be your back yard the way they keep coming back with “Oh I think he might be here”.
I’m perplexed at why they’re so fixated on finding him. And if they were to find him just what do they plan to do with him? If he does pop up alive, is there some crime they’re going to charge him with?. Good luck with seating a jury of folks that even know who he is. If he turns up dead are they going to give him a burial or something? According to countless reports if he’s dead, its more than likely someone took care of the burial arrangements already, proper notwithstanding.
With all the missing people to look for, I don’t see how they can justify this sporadic, yet redundant search for a man most Americans don’t even know or care about for that matter.
