Social Media and Relationships

Social media can be a bit intimidating when it comes to building and maintaining a healthy relationship. It’s almost as if you’re expected to post and profess your love for your significant other everyday of the week.

Day’s like Monday and Wednesday can’t be said without thinking of hashtags like #MCM (Man Crush Monday) or #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday.) While the rest of the day’s are left to #RelationshipGoals.

These hashtags, in a way, make us feel hopeful for love, envious and often times just flat out annoyed by the idea of it.

However, what I’ve realized is that social media has created an illusion of perfection. People are only willing to show the world the best part of their life. And the individuals who are brave enough to show you the darker side of their relationship, are viewed as unpleasant and dramatic.

But what our generation needs to understand…
