“The petition is titled, “Sign the petition to fire Jesse Williams from Grey’s Anatomy for racist rant,” and was created by “Erin Smith,” which is probably a fake name because who’d want the world to know he or she was really a jackass?” Source — The Root
Hello, everyone. Welcome in to The GeoGee Experience Monthly Wrap-up and shout out. The GGEMWS is a post that curates some of our popular content, news worthy events, and pop-offs of interest from the previous month that is now history. The GGEMWS is also a platform where we say “Whatz” up to some of our blogging friends and show our gratitude to new followers and gracious sharers of our content.
June 2016 was an awesome month for us. We got “The GeoGee Magazine” up and running on Medium. The GeoGee Experience Magazine is an online magazine that focuses on culture, social issues, technology, entertainment, and news worthy content. While our target demographic is Black we court a diverse consumption of our content with the goal being to build a bridge that educates all demographics to a loftier level of understanding and appreciation for and of each other. The magazine that resides online offers larger images, short posts, and articles (we do feature long reads from time to time) and a lot of time sensitive content. The biggest feature of the magazine is we solicit the work of other bloggers seeking an additional platform of exposure for their work.
We want to thank all of you that embraced the magazine so quickly. Two weeks into it we had two of our stories be featured on Medium’s homepage. That’s huge – it would not have happened without your support.
“The two women that actually found me passed out on the floor after I left somebody’s bachelor party and put me in rehab the next day. And supported me and pushed me and give me a reason to get up and go and chase it day after day after day.”
On Sunday, June 29th, 2016 Samuel L. Jackson stood on stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles California and accepted the 2016 BET Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 67-year-old actor did not hesitate to extol accolades upon his wife LaTanya Richardson, 66, and their 34-year-old daughter Zoe for urging him to go to rehab after finding him passed out on the floor after a night of partying.
Decades before we knew of Samuel L. Jackson he was dealing with demons a lot of us are dealing with every day. Fortunately, for him, he was blessed with two strong believing women that made all the difference in his world and his life.
Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams won the annual 2016 BET Humanitarian Award.
After accepting the award, the speech he gave validated his earning such recognition.
That speech was more talked about than the red carpet fashions — and it should have been too.
Jesse could have accepted his award and gave the standard thank you speech and returned to the lofty perch of acting and entertaining as all the other award winners did.
He didn’t do that.
He saw a platform that presented an opportunity to call out some very serious issues plaguing Blacks in this country.
He seized the opportunity and used it for all it was worth.
The 34-year old actor and activist began his politically and race charged call to action by shining the light of moment on those that are fighting for change and those living under the black clouds of injustice and systemic oppression in this country.
